Mattie Warlick (Nidan)
What was your original motivation to start Kyudo?
Motivation stemmed from attending a seminar as a “helper”. I wondered why anyone would voluntarily endure such “not quite torture”. I really wanted to learn to shoot such a beautiful bow. The only way to answer the question and gain the skill was to study the art.
What do you now enjoy most about Kyudo?
I enjoy most, shooting the
beautiful
bow, and (hate to sound like Pollyanna) learning to discipline myself.
Mentally,
physically and
emotionally, I can see some progress. Need more practice, though.
This should keep me busy for the next 20 years, at least.
